M3 Miniature Multilumen Manometric Catheters

Significant Technical Advance
The nine lumen M3 catheters are made by a precision extrusion process which has resulted in 50% reduction in the cross sectional area compared to our previous 9 lumen catheter. These M3 catheters have been designed to give high-fidelity recording when used with a low compliance perfusion pump (Hydraulic Capillary Infusion System).

Improved Patient Acceptance
The small size of the M3 catheter makes it ideally suited for manometric studies in pediatric as well as well as adult patients. The M3 diameter has the same diameter as our previous triple lumen assembly, yet is capable of simultaneous pressure sampling at up to eight recording sites.

Multi Purpose Capabilities
The M3 nine lumen catheters are suitable for use with 4 channel and 8 channel recording systems. With a 4 channel system, lower esophageal sphincter pressure measurements are made utilizing four radial distal recording sites. Esophageal body motor activity is then measured using four proximal recording sites spaced at 5 cm intervals. This method eliminates the need for two different catheters and
two separate intubations. Further, a sleeve can be interfaced for continuous, accurate recording of sphincter pressure, combined with simultaneous recording of esophageal body events. A 1 .5 mm pH electrode easily passes via the central lumen to give a unified system for gastro-esophageal reflux measurements.

Enhanced Cleaning/Sterilization
The smooth single extruded surface of the M3 catheters enhances appearance and makes cleaning convenient. The M3 catheter can be used many times over and may be gas sterilized.
