Lumen ARM34
This new M3 5 lumen catheter utilizes the same extrusion used
in the 9 lumen M3. The significant difference is that there are
four recording sites. This catheter is designed to be used with
a recording system having four pressure recording channels. Internal
and external anal sphincter pressures are measured by a station
pull through technique. A rectal distending balloon is attached
to the distal end of the catheter. Internal anal sphincter relaxation
can be measured with any of the recording sites during balloon
distention.
9
Lumen ARM38
A more technically advanced catheter is constructed from the M3
single extrusion catheter material. This catheter has eight recording
sites plus a large central lumen for inflation of the rectal distending
balloon. With the eight recording sites spaced at 0.5 cm intervals,
the internal and external anal sphincter pressures can be measured
concurrently with the assembly stationed within the sphincteric
high pressure zone. This unique design permits accurate, simultaneous
assessment of internal sphincter relaxation and external sphincter
augmentation during balloon distention of the rectum. The rectal
distending balloon can be inflated with volumes of air up to 150
milliliters. These catheters are reusable and may be gas sterilized.
