PVC Esophageal and Anorectal Catheters
- (Anorectal
catheters only) Make sure stopcock on center lumen
is closed to prevent water from entering the balloon.
- Immediately
after the study wash away mucous and tape residues
with mild soap and water.
- Inject
5 to 10ml of soap water solution through each lumen.
(Except balloon lumen).
- To
disinfect the catheter immerse it in disinfecting
solution (Cidex etc) and inject 5 to 10ml through
each lumen.
- Follow
the instructions of the disinfecting solution and
the protocol of your Infectious Control Department.
- Flush
each lumen with 5 to 10ml of fresh water and rinse
outside of the catheter with fresh water.
- Inject
5 to 10ml of air through each lumen and wipe outside
of catheter dry.
- Store
catheter by hanging or lying flat in a wide drawer.
